The Journey
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: The Journey is a behind-the-scenes book for the hit stage play, which details the creation of the show from the ground up, as well as it’s expansion from the West End London production to Broadway and Melbourne. Insightful interviews, sketches, and backstage photos included; custom typography, emblems, and patterns throughout.
• 9 x 10.5 • gold foil stamping and sculptural emboss on matte black cover • 288 pages, 4-color hardcover book
Show photography by Manuel Harlan, Charlie Gray, and Matthew Murphy
The snitch / nest emblem is foil stamped and has a sculptural emboss to give it the appearance of molten gold.
The design of the chapter openers are based on the large decorative industrial beams that frame the set design of the stage play.
Patterns in the book are pulled from the theater’s custom design—this one behind Hermione’s costume sketches comes from the wallpaper.
Typography throughout the book references that of Victorian train stations, with some characteristic Harry Potter whimsy. Character names appear as if floating—the target of well-placed Winguardium Leviosa.
